Sleep

Jeff and I use the expression 'little boy tired' for Finn. It involves him sleeping in a weird position or those times when he is so zonked and just doesn't look like a baby anymore but rather a little boy- completely tuckered from a hard day of playing. I have a love/hate relationship with these sleeps. I love them because they are the cutest thing in the entire world, but I hate them because he is growing too fast! It's a glimpse into the days of him falling asleep on the kitchen floor or curled up in a ball beside the washing machine- crayons still in hand. Ugh! Look at that little face! And already he just cant put his toys down!

Papa

I found this photo this morning while trying to organize some things for Christmas- I just love it so much. My two boys looking so handsome. It brings back such wonderful memories of an awesome trip to Canmore with a few of our dearest friends. Jeff, you are such a wonderful Dad- I love seeing how Finn lights up when you are around. The excitement and full body wiggles that start whenever he sees you enter a room. It's the most amazing thing to watch you both together. I love you with all my heart and am SO happy Finn has such a wonderful father.
XOXO

Little Boy Blue

We had a tough day today- lots and lots of tears from an unhappy little boy. But little breaks in bad moods for moments like these make all the hard times disappear.
Love you forever, my sweet little Finn.

TEETH!

It's been an eventful couple of days around here. On Tuesday, Finn cut his first tooth! He is a bit of a late bloomer compared to most the babes in his friend pool, but it's exciting that he is getting some chompers! He is definitely bothered by the pain of moving teeth- not sleeping well, fussy and not at all his normal happy self. All to be expected, I suppose. All this commotion has got Jeff and I talking about what special things we will do when he one day starts losing these baby teeth. It seems so odd to me that we give kids money from the tooth fairy for their teeth- so Jeff has come up with the idea of giving him special rocks that we find on walks or adventures, or little crystals and jewels with special stories behind them. I really like the idea, but 6 or 7 years from now when all his friends are getting 20 dollar bills (I'm accounting for inflation :) ) it might be another story. Only time will tell, but for now, I'm just going to enjoy the extra cuddles from my poor little man.

Giggle Monster

We were trying to get Bailey, my parents very old dog, to do some tricks and Finn thought it was the funniest things ever!

Growing TOO fast!

Finn is turning into such a little man! It breaks my heart a little bit, but is also so exciting to see as he learns new things and grows into his wild personality.
man, i love this kid!

* this video is kind of hard to see, but he barrel rolled his way over to his toy bin and was trying to get toys out- little stinker!

Dear Santa

We wanted to write a letter to Santa this year as, obviously, it's Finns first Christmas and we are all pretty excited. It's funny how having a kid around suddenly makes all the magic and wonderfulness of the holidays so amplified! Everything is new again! We are all sooo excited for all the new and amazing things we get to experience, Finny! XO

SJN

My bestest friend in the whole world is undergoing some pretty amazing life changes right now. I am so unbelievably proud of her strength, courage and dedication to move forward from here. She always amazes me with her sunny outlook on some seriously crappy situations- even when she is 'complaining' (which is not often) it's always followed by an "Oh well, whatever" or a "sorry, I'm just being whinny today". Since the day i met her, she has been able to put a smile on my face just by being around me- her energy and passion is beyond infectious. Being that she is the only person that currently actually reads this blog, I want to say a few things. Steph, you are my rock- the one person i completely and freely tell all my secrets to, the person that I hold nothing back from and am 100% true to myself with. My other half, my kindred spirit, my most special, cherished and adored friend. You fill my heart with light and fill that empty space in my soul that was vacant for so long before you came around. I will always love getting into trouble with you and giggling till we nearly pee- my memories with you are vast and so often my salvation. You are the sweetest and most generous person I have had the pleasure of having come into my life. I love you more than words can express and think about you always. I'm so excited for this new chapter in your life and cant wait to hear all about your journey when you get home. Thank you for being such a wonderful spirit in my life and for being such an amazing woman and Aunt to Finn (and Chapeau.) I love you with all my heart! Hang in there my sweet! XO

love you forever

I love my little man. And I know it's so cliche to say, but I love him more than I ever thought possible. When he goes to sleep at night, I miss him and can't wait for him to wake up. My heart melts when he is eating and he stops to look up at me and just smiles the biggest smile, or when he wakes up in the morning and just lays in bed yacking away- happy as can be, just telling stories to his stuffed animals and anyone who will listen. His giggles make me glow with happiness and I could honestly sit and watch him taking in the world forever. He is such a funny little guy and I am so happy to have him in my life. It makes me so excited to think about all the things he gets to learn- the things we get to teach him and the things he gets to figure out on his own. I cant wait to see him walk and talk and grow up and become such an enlightened, compassionate and truly grateful person, but in the same moment, my heart aches at how big he is getting so quickly.

Oh my little boy- you are loved more than you will ever know- today and always! XO

Coconut Oil Scalp Treatment

Finn has had a bit of a dry scalp lately- so upon a flurry of ideas from wonderful girlfriends, I finally decided to lather his little head in coconut oil and let him soak it up for a while. He was quite a trooper all propped up in his bumboo waiting for his bath. It seems to have worked just great, but today his hair is still pretty greasy feeling and he smells like someone rubbed his head in french fries.
